Summerlin Memorial, Room 349

Young and proud once walked this girl,
an Irish-eyed child of tomorrow.

Life’s carousel spins and stops where
postponed plans pay back time borrowed.

Sunlight,
now fluorescent.
Birdsongs,
now beeping.
Dreams,
an escape no more.
Still proud sleeps this woman in the arms
of love’s afterglow.

Sharing life-earned gifts for the
next to learn—the grace of letting go.
